Obituaries

age 77, of Dunbar, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday April 2, 2024. He was born on July 23, 1946, in Highland Park, IL; son of the late James and Zella (Dolland) Shelton Sr. Jim graduated from Highland Park High School in 1964. He worked for Lenzini Excavating and retired from Cioni Excavating in 2005. He was united in marriage to his wife Alicia on March 16, 1996 and in 2013 they moved to Dunbar. Jim truly was a people person. He attended almost every Town board meeting, belonged to Dun-Good Riders, Dunbar Sportsmen’s Club, and even made sure the Town Crew was doing their job correctly- He loved the comradery. Jim loved long rides in the car, people watching, his word puzzles, receiving his TV Guide, and watching Blue Bloods with his kitty’s and grand dog Jagger. He will be missed.

Jim is survived by his wife, Alicia; daughter, Janet Tucker; seven grandchildren: Jimmie IV (Alyssa), Jeremy (Anna), Skye (Noah), Rhiannon (Josh), Xander (Maria), Robbie and Charlie; three great grandchildren: Jacob, Cameron, and Kyler; daughter-in-law, Barbara; and special friends: the Powell and Schubert families. He was preceded in death by his sons: James and Robert; brother, Scott; and sister, Lynne.

There will be a Celebration of Life on July 20, 2024, from Noon until 4pm at the Dunbar Sportsmen’s Club.
