Irvin M. LaCount Jr.

age 87, of Athelstane, passed away Tuesday March 5, 2024, at Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain. He was born in Pittsfield, Wis on November 15, 1936; son of Irvin and Wilma (King) LaCount. Irvin enlisted in the Marine Corps and served his Country honorably. Irv married the love of his life Betty Ann Peterson on October 15, 1955. He was a proud member of Athelstane/Silver Cliff American Legion Post #66. Irvin was a people person and loved tinkering on his stock cars and spending time at Pine Ridge Raceway. He enjoyed deer hunting, going to auctions, antique tractors/machinery but most importantly spending time with his family and friends he treasured most. He was always willing to lend an ear to anyone that wanted to talk.

Irvin is survived by his four children: Debbie (Gregg) Hanson, Connie (Mike) Wallace, Kelly (Jill) LaCount, Greg (Melissa) LaCount and nephew, Michael (Jan) LaCount; grandchildren: Joe (friend, Chelsea) Hanson, Valerie (Jesse) Oskey, Nick (Betsy) Hanson, Wesley (Jessica) Hanson, Mindy (Tim) Schatz, Craig (Ashlee) Wallace, Jack LaCount, Tiffany (Rich) Grafen, Brandon (Cassie) Nelson, Cole (fiancé Annahid) LaCount, Gabrielle (friend, Noah) LaCount, Shado (friend, Al) LaCount, Carl (friend, Laura) LaCount, and Sammy LaCount; great grandchildren: Layla, Alana, Noah, Ruby, Avery, Evalyn, Addie, Vaughn, Quinn, Maddie, McKenzie, Zoe, Sophia, River, Reggie, Cece, Ella and Mikie; siblings: Judy (Dick) Boesen, Mary, Brenda, Tommy, Tina, Scotty (Kathy) LaCount, and Star (Ed) Folk; further survived by numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by wife, Betty; siblings: Kenny, Rosie, Chuck, Darlene, Tim and Todd; and special child, Jane (Butch) Goden.

Visitation will be held on Saturday March 9, 2024, at Roubal Funeral Home from 9am until the time of his funeral service at 11am. Father Dave Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to donate funds to Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, for their wonderful care shown and given to Irvin.

Roubal Funeral Home of Wausaukee is assisting Irvin’s family with arrangements.
