Gene “Geno” Harrington

age 70, died at home unexpectedly from natural causes on Thursday November 23, 2023. He was born in Chicago on April 9, 1953; son of George “Wayne” and Joan (Titsworth) McLaughlin. Geno was originally from Canaryville Illinois neighborhood and later moved to Wausaukee. He joined the United States Army and served his country honorably during the Vietnam Era, stationed in Germany. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Geno shot his last buck on opening day of this hunting season. He also enjoyed the Indy 500 with family and friends.

Geno is survived by his two children: Tristan and Leah; brothers and sister: John (Ellen) Harrington, Gary (Debra) Harrington, Sharlene (John) Lira, and Donald (Nicole) McLaughlin; brother-in-law, John Ensworth; sister-in-law, Patty Harrington; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, George “Wayne”; sister, Sharon; and two brothers: Peter and Steven.

Visitation will be on Monday November 27, 2023, at Roubal Funeral Home from 12pm until the time of his funeral service at 4pm. Full military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post #66. A Second service will be held 2:30pm on Saturday March 23, 2024, at Union Avenue United Methodist Church, 4350 S. Union Ave, Chicago, with Jan Donovan officiating. A gathering will take place after his service at Kelly’s.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be given to two churches.

Roubal Funeral Home of Wausaukee is assisting Geno’s family with arrangements.

My sincere condolences to entire family. I can call Geno a friend for 40+ yrs. Many memories, like younger days of him taking me to watch deer in his AMC eagle 4x4 car. Then later on in life playing ball at at open gym.. lol if Geno got fouled he came up swinging. I remember after a pretty heated bball scuffel he said “ maybe this just isnt my game”. I will miss our Bears/Packers banter! Geno always went out of his way to strike up conversation. Geno, you lived your life your way , and I respect that! RIP my friend
