Raymond G. Engeldinger Sr.
Mar 04, 1939 - May 06, 2020
age 81, of Amberg, passed away Wed., May 6, at his favorite place to be, home. Ray was the 7th of 8 children, born to Ben and Nellie Engeldinger, on March 4, 1939 in Ashland, WI. He graduated from Glidden High School in 1957, spent 3 years stationed at Butzbach Germany, where he worked as an Artillery Surveyor. After the military, he moved to Milwaukee, where he met his wife of nearly 53 years, Nola Werner. They have 3 children Laura (Jim) Plautz (grandsons Jacob and Brian), Ray Jr (Tammi) (granddaughters Emma and Ellie), and Andy (Michelle) (granddaughters Hannah and Hattie). He worked for over 24 years with the Wausaukee School District, from which he retired in 2001. Raymond loved his family, be it immediate or extended, as much as they loved him. He especially enjoyed recounting stories of all his grandchildren, reminiscing and retelling childhood stories from the old northwoods, the logging camps, as well as his adventures with the military. He was well known for getting a head start on his tomato plants each spring, and the promise of fresh produce from the garden. A crossword puzzle enthusiast, a lover of lemon meringue pie, cribbage master, and POGO junkie, he loved the simple things in life. He rarely missed an evening of reading scripture, which undoubtedly shaped the life he led, and provided.
Ray is survived by his sister, Linda. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Doris, Darold, Junior, Fern, Robert, and Darlean.
A special thanks to his nephew, Sean, sister-in-law Mary, and the entire Bright family for their selfless care and support. Ray will be deeply missed by his family.
Due to Safer at Home restrictions, a funeral service will be held privately for immediate family. Burial will be in the Amberg Cemetery.
Roubal Funeral Home of Wausaukee is assisting the family with arrangements.
