Stephen Marquis Sr.
Jan 23, 1949 - Apr 26, 2023
a lifelong resident of Amberg, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at home. He was born on January 23, 1949, in Norway, Michigan, to the late Peter and Althea (Laabs) Marquis. Stephen graduated from high school in 1967 and continued his education in carpentry at Milwaukee Technical School. He worked for several construction companies in the area until his retirement. He was known for his creativity, hard work, integrity, and determination.
Stephen was a caring and thoughtful person who always had time for his family, friends, and community. He was especially good to his mother, building a closet for her washer and dryer to make her life easier. He was a good teacher and patient with his nieces and nephews. Following are comments from them: He built me a doll house; took us to the Pike River to swim; complemented me when I successfully accomplished a task; I hunted with him; I went to work with him; he was my godparent on the Marquis side of the family; he gave me a treehouse, a bookcase, thoughtful gifts. He will be remembered for generously sharing his time.
Stephen is survived by his son Stephen Marquis II, stepson Adam Broderick and a stepdaughter Michelle Kent. He was very proud of his five grandchildren: Hunter, Jayden, Kamryn, Andrew, and Darren. He is also survived by four siblings: Janice Holmes, Sharyn Dunn, Peter Marquis, and Jeff Marquis. He was preceded in death by his son Eric, and sisters Lois Gustafson, Audrey Sawyers, Phyllis Dixon, Patricia Deau.
Stephen will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In accordance with his wishes, private family services will be held.
We were fortunate to have had the gift of Stephen for 74 years, and we are sure he is watching us now, smiling and remembering a full life, its ups and downs, challenges and rewards, and is at peace in his new adventure.
Roubal Funeral Home is assisting his family with arrangements.
