At age 94, of Marinette, formerly Crivitz, passed away peacefully after a long beautiful life on Saturday April 6, 2019, at the Luther Home in Marinette. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 4, 1924; daughter of the late Carl and Evelyn Sangmeister.  Ruth was united in marriage to Russell Hecht on January 7, 1949, in Cleveland, OH. They shared a very exciting life together traveling the world while Russell was member of the military.  They enjoyed seeing the world and exploring other cultures. During their travels they adopted two children, her daughter, the late Carol McGrain and Thomas Hecht. Throughout her years she was a Member of the Woman’s Club, Crivitz starting in 1975 and throughout many years held a past position of President and was Woman of the Year in 2001 and very involved in the community.  She participated in many volunteering events over the course of her life. She was also a member of the Red Hat’s Society. She worked for NASA for several years and participated in the project involving the Apollo 8 Mission in 1968 and the Apollo 11 Mission in 1969.

Ruth loved spending time with her family and friends. Her family was her number one priority and brought her much joy and happiness.  She had a deep love and connection with animals, reading, and playing her favorite games. She loved telling stories of her life and talking about history and her worldly experiences.  Her drives through the area of Crivitz and Marinette brought her a lot of delight and good memories. She had an incredible sense of humor and watching her laugh was a great joy!
