Raymond “Ray” Kahles

age 88, of Crivitz, passed away at home on Thursday October 6, 2022. He was born in Athelstane on April 12, 1934; son of the late Michael and Martha (Miller) Kahles. At the age of 7, Ray and his family moved to Chicago. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps after serving a three year-term. He married Stefania “Steffi” in Chicago, Illinois on January 29, 1959. Ray started working at Excelsior Steel in Chicago and retired after 40 years to his home near Lake Noquebay in Crivitz. Ray was an avid gardener and especially liked growing tomatoes. He loved going on trips to Carter Casino and was always known to give out KitKat candy bars to his family members and friends.

Ray is survived by his nieces and nephews: Kathleen Steffen, Sam (Sandra) Kahles, Susan (Mike) Hartzheim, Don (Cheryl) Kahles, Peggy (Rick) Peterson, and many more nieces and nephews; and further survived by his special friend of many years, Mary Raser. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Peter, Cletus, August, Katheryn, Francis, Elizabeth, Evelyn, Helen, Agnes, Barbara, and Violet.

Visitation for Ray will be held at Roubal Funeral Home on Thursday October 20, 2022 from 9:30am until the time of his service at 10:30am with Pastor Don Landwehr officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Crivitz Netzel-Zenz American Legion Post #413 and VFW Post #2063. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Athelstane.
