
Marvin S. Marquardt

age 94, of Pembine, died Thursday August 31, 2023, at Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain. He was born in Little River, Oconto County, Wisconsin on September 10, 1928; son of the late Arthur and Wilhelmina “Minnie” (Behnke) Marquardt. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. Marvin married Charmaine DeLaet on May 26, 1951, at First American Lutheran Church. He started his own logging business, Marquardt Logging, from 1957 until 1971 and stated we didn’t have all this fancy machinery back then. From there he and Charmaine owned and operated Pembine Sports Center from 1971 until 1989. Marvin built an Alaskan home and always enjoyed spending time there fishing and hunting. After retirement, the couple would summer in Alaska. He loved fishing, hunting deer, elk, moose, caribou, as well as pheasant and duck. Marvin also served as the Treasurer and Supervisor for the Town of Dunbar.
Marvin is survived by his three children: Cheryl (Jay) Kabitzke, Jonathan (Wendy) Marquardt, and Joe Marquardt; two grandchildren: Elizabeth (Christopher) Cleveland and Jeffery (Kristin) Marquardt; 5 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and brothers and sister: Al, Tom (Helen), Russ (Darlene), Roger (Sharon) Marquardt, and Joan (Roger) Cudnofusky. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charmaine; his two sons: William and Jeffery; and siblings: Millie, Harry, Jerry, James, Marshall and two infant sisters.
Visitation will be held from 9am to 11am on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Grace Lutheran Church in Pembine. Memorial Service will follow at 11am at church with Rev. Lloyd Luedeman officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post #461.
