Lisle W. Suzawith

Sep 08, 1949 - Jun 18, 2024

age 74, of Amberg, passed away June 18, 2024, with family by his side. He was born on September 8, 1949, to the late Harold “Don” and Patricia (Downing) Suzawith. He was born and raised in Amberg, WI and graduated from Wausaukee High School in 1967.

In 1972, he joined the Peshtigo Police Dept. and in 1974 he was appointed Peshtigo Chief of Police. At the time, he was the youngest police chief in the nation at age of 24. He was a familiar face for many years working at Shaffer Park Resort. In 1985 he received his insurance licenses and in 2002 joined WI/MI Insurance Agency and continued to run Suzawith Insurance Division until his time of passing. Lisle served as secretary on the national board of Fishing Has No Boundaries for 17 years. In 1985 he was elected Town of Amberg Treasurer, a position he held until his passing. He served on the Wausaukee Enterprises board of directors for 40 years. Lisle was a member of the Crivitz Masonic Lodge and rose to Master Mason in 1975 and would have achieved 50 years in January 2025. He served as Amberg Community Association secretary/treasurer for many years and was recognized as Amberg’s person of the year in 2012. In 2021 he was honored as Amberg Fire Departments Grand Marshall. Lisle loved the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and attended Northwoods Chapel for many years.

Lisle enjoyed hunting, the Green Bay Packers, time spent with family and friends, and a good joke. His passion was fishing and sharing his big fish stories. Lisle did not let his physical limitations hold him back. He was extremely independent and was a daily inspiration to many. He touched many lives with love, kindness and generosity. His courage and determination through his years of health struggles proved his will to spend time with those he loved. He was taken from us all too soon but died with his dignity and on HIS terms. Forever remembered, forever missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his brothers: Larry (Chris), Mike, Scott (Cindy), and Patrick (Joan); sisters: Denise (Mark) Meisner, and Nola (Ron) Wontor; nephew, Wesley Suzawith; aunt, Helen; cousins and many close friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, at the Amberg Community Center from 1pm until the time of his Memorial Service at 4pm. Pastor Clark Lindsay will officiate.

A special thank you to Dr. Hoppe and Lisle’s health care providers throughout the years and also a special thank you to Freeman Nursing Home staff for your care and support.
