June T. Caine

May 27, 1931 - May 08, 2023

of Wausaukee, passed away on Monday, May 8th, peacefully at her home at the age of 91. She was born May 27th, 1931, to the late Otto and Arena (Watters) Kaatz. She married Patrick Joseph Caine in 1953 and together they had eight children. They resided in Wausaukee in their big white house on top of the hill. Together they loved collecting antiques and going to auctions. She was happiest having a full house with all her children, their spouses, 21 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Anyone that met her knew she was a pillar of strength, fiercely independent, and instilled the importance of family above all else. She is survived by her children and their spouses – Clark (Linda Kubitz) Caine, Brian (Julie) Caine, Paul Fick, Colleen (Mike Lemon) Caine, Thérèse (Tom) Scheetz, Jim (Stacey) Caine, Lynelle (Jeff Banaszak) Caine; grandchildren; Renee (Craig) Dortch, Brianne (Justin) Wright, Dayna (Paul) Niesen, Tessa (Chad) Kwiatkowski, Brittney (Adam Turnquist) Lemon, Rob Caine, Patrice (Michael Kalies) Fick-Kalies, Bo Lemon, Trista Fick, Patrick (Kaile) Caine, Charleen Fick, Braxtin (Jalen Buchberger) Caine, Lyvia Caine, Tyli Scheetz, Senya Caine, Tyce Scheetz, Traeten Scheetz, Brock Banaszak, James Caine, and Bryce Banaszak; great-grandchildren – Peyton, Wyatt, and Jase Dortch; Nolan, Gavin, and Dextyn Niesen; Clayton, Elsa, Teagan, and Scarlett Wright; Keenan, Carter, Cal, Kamden, and Kinzley Kwiatkowski; Arien, Aniya, and Azalea Caine; Christian Kalies; and Jackson Turnquist. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughters Renee Caine and Laurie Caine-Fick, her granddaughter Brigitte Caine, and her parents and siblings.

She proudly worked at the Wausaukee Housing Authority until she was 86. Throughout her life, she was an advocate for her community and loved to get involved in economic development and other community projects. She was a proponent for education and was the president of the school board in her younger years.

She loved having large gatherings with her family, whether it be for a birthday, holiday, important milestone, or for Sunday dinner. She always cooked for an army and could throw together a meal in a hurry. She was famous for her homemade pies. She always said you can truly measure the sense of someone’s wealth and it was not by the amount of money they had, but by the closeness of their family. She truly was rich in family!

Per her wishes, a private service for immediate family will be held at her home followed by a burial at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please donate your time or money to your local community or school.

Roubal Funeral home of Wausaukee is assisting June’s family with arrangements.

Thank you for being such a big part of my life.My life would not of been the same without you in it. I look back at my life and you were a big part of it. Some of my fondest memories were my summers spent in Wausaukee with my grandparents. I’ll miss you and Pat and wish that I could go back to those days when we were all together.

Robert Cavanaugh

From the Cavanaugh family, the entire Caine family has our sympathy on the passing of June Caine. I met June in the late summer of 1983 upon my arrival in Wausaukee. It was clear from that time that she was a strong supporter of the Wausaukee School District. That was a good thing as I would rather have had her as an advocate than an adversary and an advocate she remained as time went on. As I read her obituary I felt a small part of all that was in it; the Caine house on the hill, her children, the extended Caine family, her community involvement and her leadership in the village. A June Caine does not come along every day. May God bless the Caine family and keep them well.
