James F. Brennan Jr.

Sep 25, 1946 - Jan 30, 2023

of Athelstane, passed away peacefully at Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center on January 30, 2023, with his best friend and family by his side. James was born September 25th, 1946, to James and Lucille Brennan in Trenton, New Jersey. He attended Schools of Marinette and Kenosha graduating from Tremper High School in 1965. He then proudly served his country as a specialist in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1966-1968.

In August of 1969, he married Cheryl Lundberg in Kenosha. They moved to Pleasant Prairie and had 2 boys. He worked for American Motors/Chrysler as a machine repairman before retiring in 2003 after 30 years. He moved to Athelstane shortly after.

Jim loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. His passion was shooting trap and sporting clays, primarily at the Dunbar Sportsmen’s Club. He enjoyed mentoring kids to become hunters and sportsmen and women.

Jim will be missed by his sons: Scott and Kelly; brothers: Robert (Judy), Charles, and Peder; grandchildren: Patrick (Natalie), Mackenzie, Thomas, Kaitlyn, and Audrey; god nieces: Amber and Sarah; other nieces and nephews; countless friends; and his beloved dozer “Eddie”. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother, Terry.

To Ed and Bonnie Nowland: Our father will have no problems making friends in Heaven because he was already friends with you two angels here on Earth!

A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be on Saturday June 10, 2023, at the Dunbar Sportsmen’s Club, N19087 Airport Road from 11am until 3pm with a brief service at 1pm.

A special thank you to Daniella and the whole staff at Oscar G Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain for their compassion and care Dad received while with you.

Pete Brennan

I don’t know what to say. Miss him, love him? I wish I could be with the family today to celebrate Skips life. I am having my own battles at the moment. Scott and Kelly, the best way to honor your father is to continue his legacy. Don’t cry because he is gone, be happy with the memories that were made for you with him. The important things you can’t touch or hear, the important things are felt in your heart. Love you guys. My prayers are with you.

I am sorry, saddened to read this today. History with Jim is years of memories. I introduced Jim to Cheryl. Many more memories added to this relationship. Jim is now telling Cheryl about her boys she loves so much. Scotty Kelly and children I am here to provide the journey of Jim Cheryl and Leona and Al.

Jim was a really good guy. Always had a smile. He was fun to be around. I was saddened to hear of his passing. I always saw him when I worked and he could always make me laugh. His love for his dogs was amazing. He was a special guy.

I am so sorry to learn of "Skips" passing. I am Terry Brennan's mother-in -law. Terry's children are doing well and would really like to meet their Brennan family. Alexander James is 14 now and Paige will be 13 in July. Alex looks like a miniature Terry. I searched the internet to get an address for Skip and instead found the obituary. I am so sad that I didn't stay in contact with him. He was such a nice man. I see you are planning a celebration of life for late spring. I would so much appreciate the opportunity to attend that with Alex and Paige. My cell phone number is 906-282-6783. Thank you. Suzette

I am so sorry for your loss. Jim was a kind selfless Man. I was very lucky to be one of his Neighbors. He would be there for whatever was needed. He would always stop by to say hi to the kids. He will be missed. Any Help his Family needs please reach out.
