age 81, of New London, died peacefully at home on Friday February 14, 2020. The former Irene DeChant was born in Tinley Park, Illinois on September 17, 1938; daughter of the late Thomas and Wilhelmina (Trybul) DeChant. She shared more than 50 years of marriage with her childhood sweetheart Elmer Peterson. She enjoyed ceramic painting, puzzles, bingo, and RV traveling with her husband. Irene adored long-distance phone calls with loved ones and spending time with her family.
Irene is survived by five children: Cindy Peterson, Mark (Sue) Peterson, David (Elizabeth Martinez) Peterson, Dick (Sue) Peterson, and Ruth (Rob) Wiegand; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and three siblings: RoseMarie Pieroni, Lynda Gauthier, and Michael DeChant. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer H. Peterson; her son Elmer H. Peterson III; and four siblings: Delores DeChant, Joan Pupkiewicz, Richard DeChant, and Gale DeChant.
Family and friends may call on Saturday February 29, 2020, at Roubal Funeral Home from 12 pm (Noon) until the time of Irene’s Memorial Service at 1 pm. Pastor Andrew Williams will officiate. Burial will be in the Amberg Cemetery this spring.
