Gloria Jean Kafka

age 74, of Wausaukee, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, November 26, 2021. She was born October 11, 1947, in Marinette, the daughter of the late Elmer and Margaret (Magnuson) Vertz. Gloria graduated from Wausaukee High School in 1965, and prior to marriage worked in Milwaukee and Green Bay. After raising her children she worked as a custodian for many years at the Wausaukee School.

Gloria was a devout Catholic, a loving mother and grandmother, and a good friend. She loved spending time at the cabin on Morgan Lake, appreciating the water and woods through all the seasons. Gloria enjoyed having lunch with her classmates once a month, keeping up with family and friends with Facebook, and taking a keen interest in politics and public affairs.

Gloria is survived by her husband of 47 years, Steve; four children: Victoria Kafka, Rebecca DesRochers (Aaron Miller), Steven J. Kafka, and Crystal Kafka (Tracy Much); three grandchildren: Lucas, Gwenyth and Julia; siblings: Pat Sebero (Gene), George (Karen), Stanley (Beverly), Dave (Barb), and Laura Vertz (John Frendreis). She was preceded in death by brothers Ronald, William, and Vern.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 am on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Wausaukee. Visitation is from 9:30 am until 11:30 am. Father Jeffrey Briones is officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery this spring.

Roubal Funeral Home of Wausaukee is assisting Gloria’s family with arrangements.
