Francis “Frankie” E. Gudowicz

age 91, of Armstrong Creek, passed away peacefully Thursday October 14, 2021. He was born in Armstrong Creek on November 22, 1929; the son of the late John and Regina (Makowski) Gudowicz-Bray. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Frankie worked at Wicklander’s in Chicago for 50 plus years until retirement and returned to his hometown of Armstrong Creek. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and was loved by all who knew him. He loved nature especially feeding his deer, taking rides in the country, deer hunting and trapping when he was a young man. He was a fan of the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers if they weren’t in competition with the Bears. He had a strong religious faith and was always willing to lend a hand. Frankie had a love for polish food- sauerkraut, polish sausage, and pierogis, along with his sister Irene’s famous Italian lasagna.

Francis is survived by his siblings: Irene (James) Flosi, Raymond (Barbara) Gudowicz, and Bernard (Wanda) Gudowicz; special friend Barbara Corrigan; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Mary Gudowicz. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Edwin (Julia) Gudowicz, Wanda (Gene) Kulp, Eugenia (Robert) Sinclair, Eleanor Young, Johnny Gudowicz, and Florence (Claude) Spencer.

Memorial Gathering will be from 10am until the time of his Mass at 11am at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church on Friday October 22, 2021. Full military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #325 and VFW Post #7444 at the Pine Hill Cemetery.

Special thank you to all the caregivers and staff at Florence Health Services, Dickinson County Healthcare System and Oscar J. Johnson VA Medical Center for all the wonderful care and compassion shown towards Frankie.
